Took a few days to get it to work but I got the free open source Web Spell Checker: Speller Pages program to work with Liberum.  Here is a demo of what the spell checker does (their site not mine) http://www.netjs.com/speller/

I spent many hours trying to get this to work and I documented what I had to do in a final tutorial writeup with step by steps on how to get it working.  The mod file contains all needed files.  The tutorial explains how to implement into REP [new.asp + details.asp] and USERS [new.asp + details.asp]

The MOD file archive contains:

ActivePerl-5.10.1.1007-MSWin32-x86-291969.msi      -Perl/CGI Installer
Aspell-0-50-3-3-Setup.exe                                                -Aspell Full Installed
Aspell-en-0.50-2-3.exe                                                      -Aspell English Dictionary
spellerpages-0.5.1.tar.gz                                                  -Speller program files
Speller Pages Spell checker for Liberum Helpdes1   -The Tutorial

The tutorials uses the attached files.  It may be used for newer versions but this one I wrote is specific for those file versions listed. Currently (April 6, 2010 they can be manually downloaded). I attached mainly for archival purposes for anyone who get this tutorial down the road after the versions have been updated.

Below is a short video of the speller in action on our Helpdesk.

I will see if I can get it attached to the MOD listed here:  http://liberum.robatkinson.net/?page_id=8

I tryed many time to upload  this mod.  I no longer have it in a package that I can find...right off hand...  I have been in contact with Rod atkinson who I emailed the mod to at one point and have yet to hear back from him.  I will look and see if I can find it.

OK I recompiled everything and rewrote the tutorial.  This time I emailed it to myself, my boss and my personal email accounts..lol  I am also going to send it to Rob as well.  For now here is a link to the zipped up mod that contains everything I used to make this mod.  I tried to explain everything that I could.   If you need help reply and we'll see if we can get it going.

Can I just install the ActivePearl/CGI if not already running Pearl and then go from there with the rest of the instructions?

I don't know.  Everything I seem to find says that perl and active perl are pretty close.  I would say back everything up and try it.  I started with a clean slate so I had to install ActiveStates Active Perl.  I included all the files I used that way it would be as close to my situation as possible.  What version of perl are you running?

We are not currently running any Pearl.  That is why I asked.  Could I set it up on an XP Pro computer for testing?

I don't see why you could not try it on XP.  The directions are written for Server 2003 but if you get it working on XP then post how you did it and we can create a XP setup install procedure for Server and XP :)  I am in the process of trying to make the text areas into Rich Text areasso things like  Fonts, Bold and the like will work with it as well and see if I can get some emoticon too.

Ok could not get this to work in XP using web extensions.  Has anyone tried this in a Windows 7 world with IIS7?

What was the error you are getting?

Well there is no Web Server Extensions options in XP Pro with IIS so I really could never get it installed.  Not sure if there is a work around or not.
