Hi,
My setup: Windows 2003 Server, SQL Express, DBType=1, authentication = NT Authentication, E-mail Type= ASPEmail
Everything was working fine yesterday. I set it up the day before and played around with setting up of the system yesterday.
I got a call this morning saying there was some database error. I tried on my machine and I did get the ODBC error. I went to server and tried, there it worked and then after it worked on other machines too. I am still setting up, tweaking to suite environment here. And I got same ODBE error again. This time in server too, I tried to refresh few times and it worked.
I want to know what that error is coming from. Is there some setting that I missed?
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
In your IE turn off 'show friendly http errors' and you should get an error message that will help identify the source of your problem. Without more details it's impossible to guess.

Thanks for the reply Doug,
Even with the option turned off, it gives me following error,
Application Error
Number: -2147467259 (0x80004005)
Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
Description: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Any suggestion?
Thanks.
This is what I tried:
I had myself as a normal user but did not put any information. I opened database and hardcoded information in the database itself and it worked. My question is still why it is behaving like that. Is it that all users must fill all the information?
The problem is repeated again,
I logged in the last time i tried and left it as it. I tried after 2 hours and there is the same "Application Error". What shall I do?
One more thing,
when i use /helpdesk/admin, it works fine but if i type in /helpdesk/user it gives error. Any suggestion?
Thanks,
It did it again. Where and what am I missing?
I had been testing it with SQL EXPRESS and some where it was written that the time out process is by design. I now changed to SQL SERVER but it is still showing the same behaviour. After 10 mins it gives the error on other page and not /helpdesk/amin when browsed it works fine then after. SQL express logged application log saying "server has awakened after xx secs" but now there is not logs of anything.
any help is appreciated.
I tried the solution given in http://www.liberum.org/forums/t/43.aspx and it seems to work.
This might save someone's time.
