I am having problem setting up the database and installing the appliaction

This is the error message I get when setting up the data base.

Error Type:
Microsoft VBScript compilation (0x800A0401)
Expected end of statement
/help.desk/settings.asp, line 30, column 26
Application("DBType") = 3 "C:\inetpub\Help.Desk.db\helpdesk2000.mdb"

The database is stored in a folder call Help.Desk.db in the inetpub directory on my local server.

Please help me fix this problem, I can’t continue without fixing this.

Is this database compatible with Linux?

the webserver will run on linux (the pages). the db will work on anything that can run MS SQL, Access db, or an odbc (although the latter isnt actually running the db).

it has never been reconfigured as far as I know for MySql.

i think you just dont have the driver Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers installed on your machine. you can download them from microsoft.com

I haven't read the whole thread, but I spotted ".. the web server will run on linux".  Liberum won't run on a linux web server, asp is not fully supported in apache or any other linux web server I know of.

Sorry my reply was very quick and not fully detailed. Doug is right in that ASP isnt really supported in 99% of linux setups. Liberum isnt designed for Linux but it is possible. apparantly you can use "Sun Java System Web Server" on Linux and this will run ASP pages.

Now I havent tried it but I hear its possible. This was my reason for saying Linux could run ASP. Whether you wish to try this or simply choose something else designed for Linux is another thing though.

Michael.
